About Me

Hi! I’m Heidi! Thanks for visiting my Studio Blog!

My family recently moved to Caldwell, New Jersey from New Mexico. We are a musical family; we play several instruments, we pay way more attention to movie composers than movie actors, we sing constantly, we can’t get enough music. Our toddler daughter loves music and dancing as well and will likely share her awesome dance moves with you!

My love of piano started young. My mother taught me piano from age six to twelve. At that point I played piano for our local church each Sunday until I was 18. From ages 16-18, I studied with a professor of piano performance and competed in State competitions. I also began teaching several of my own students. I attended college at Brigham Young University where I majored in Spanish with a secondary major in Home and Family Living. I put my piano studies and studio on hold while in college, but have since taught and studied piano for several years. In New Mexico, my studio grew to an average of 16 students, each of whom were a pleasure to teach.

Because I have a passion for teaching, most of my employment has been in the education field. I have 14 years of experience in teaching various subjects, 7 of which were spent teaching piano specifically. I can teach beginner to intermediate level students.

I think everybody should have an opportunity to learn piano! I can’t wait to share my love of music and piano with you!

Please email me if you’d like to register a student or have other questions: heidi.harper8@yahoo.com. Please include the word "piano" in the subject or it might go to the spam folder.
